Adult classes are group lessons (Maximum 3 students), semi-private (2 students) or private. The teacher will ask good questions, and correct any grammatical errors. The student is encouraged to speak, not the teacher. Writing is not such an important component for an English conversation school, and listening comes in the mix so we concentrate on speaking and reading. Reading can also be done at home of course, but we are using technical subjects most of the time to cover a wide range of vocabulary. We choose current news topics daily from around the world on the internet. These articles are not the typical newspaper style, but more of a talking tone. We read briefly, pick up the vocabulary and practice using this subject material immediately to try and retain the common phrases, idioms and words.
We encourage learners to watch movies, use radio, chat with friends, read, etc.- but our lesson time will be spent correcting and encouraging English usage, with the objective of attaining fluency as quickly as possible.
Classes are 55 minutes, spending approximately 10 minutes on a text (New Interchange) if appropriate. |

Using an Oxford text ‘Business One : One’ we go through business simulations using skits and presentation, practicing special business words and etiquette. The school offers levels from introductory to a very high level. A short ten course program is also possible occasionally which covers a limited amount of common business situations.
Classes are 55 minutes duration. |

Classes are normally for 4 children, though private groups of 3, 2 or 1 may be arranged.
We study text books for about 15 minutes. Popular series ‘Let’s Go’, ‘We Can’, and ‘New Parade’ also include a workbook so children can get used to writing in English.
About 10 minutes is spent singing or chanting – the school has many hundreds of songs with written words. Children can practice reading, pronunciation, intonation, grammar and comprehension all at the same time so it is an extremely efficient way for children to learn English.
The rest of the lesson is spent talking with the teacher using games or various materials.
The lesson time is 45 minutes. |
